"...passing out like grandma, on thanksgiving, drinking gin when everyone thought it was water. she went out to the porch to get some air and fell to her knees. it was a very nice dinner."
i thought of living up to my grandmother's memory, but my enthusiasm petered out after glass 3 of zee wine. i just wasn't in the mood to be the wino of the night. next family function, i swear.
last year. full of "happy chicken day!" exclamations because whole turkeys weren't sold at our store of choice - monoprix. only packaged bits and pieces of dinde. i mostly remember the mashed potatoes. oh my god. i'm pretty particular when it comes to mashed potatoes. get your boxed spuds out of my face. i don't think i'll ever taste mashed potatoes that good ever again. and that damn apple pie. i walked all over town to find an open Petit Casino. were we celebrating thanksgiving on a sunday? i remember walking through the st. sernin neighborhood feeling completely out of place.
"non merci, i don't want shit, i want fucking pate feuilletee."
HAHAHAHAH, i remember hearing so much on that famous french Thanksgiving dinner...so glad i was back in cali, eating all that yummy food! sad i didn't get to this year, i guess where're equal now!!!
Hope you had a great time with family! I miss you, but thats going to be fixed in about 19 days!
